Borough Food Market, London

Borough Market on an autumn Saturday glows in a soft, amber light and hums with energy. We are all there to taste, smell, buy and enjoy finding delicious food around every corner. And it is an equal feast for photographers!

I haven’t been to the Borough Market which is situated beneath the railway arches of London Bridge, for a very long time. Every big city does that to you. You go once and then think you will go again one day but you never do. Wasn’t going to let that happen.

It was weekend and lunchtime and the market’s narrow passages were busy with locals and tourists alike. Mushrooms, pumpkins, breads, cured meat, artisan cheese, seafood, exotic fruit, rich chocolate, beautiful flowers - the stalls were overflowing.

With a little autumn sunlight through the market roof, there was a comforting feeling that the good food and good company never go out of season. I hope the photos show some of the atmosphere.
